Speakers Trust

Speakers Trust has over 20 years of experience in supporting young people to build the confidence and skills to share their ideas, beliefs, and perspectives in public. Their vision is a world where every young person believes that their voice matters.
With our support, Speakers Trust will transform their delivery model by training teachers to deliver their tried and tested programme (previously only delivered by professional facilitators), so that they are able achieve impact in a much more sustainable and scalable way.
Our funding will support Speakers Trust to expand their work into five new regions across the UK by training 180 teachers to deliver the ‘Speak out Challenge’ programme to over 10,000 young people. This programme encourages Year 10 students to reflect on what brings them joy and get vital oracy training on how to talk confidently about their passions.
The Speakers Trust are building a stronger society in which the voices of young people are heard, whatever their background and we're excited to work with them on their innovative new delivery model.
"We're thrilled that the Ferdinando & Luigi Innocenti Foundation is supporting us to expand the Speak Out Challenge to new areas of the country and build the evidence base about what happens when young people are heard. Whether young people are sharing their passion for sport, social justice, or their own stories, there's a connection that happens when they feel genuinely heard by those that matter to them. That sense of belonging is one of the most important factors in young people's wellbeing. We're excited to work with the team at the Foundation and to hear from more young people about what sparks joy in their lives." Russell Findlay, CEO of Speakers Trust
